Griffis Lumber To Become Gaston Mulch and Soil

Griffis Lumber announced today that it will be rebranding to Gaston Mulch & Soil. The new name and brand presence better characterize the company’s current product offering.

Griffis Lumber was founded in 1955 and has provided quality lumber products for over 65 years. Purchased in October 2013 by the Gaston Companies, the rebrand to Gaston Mulch and Soil builds on the outstanding reputation that the Griffis family established. Gaston Mulch and Soil is still family-owned and operated and continues the tradition of producing top-quality mulch and soil products, as well as, prompt courteous customer service to its local and state-wide customer base.

“We’re adding tremendous value by bringing all of the specialty products and services we offer under the one banner,” said Camilo Fita, lead engineer at Gaston Mulch and Soil. “The new name aligns with our corporate purpose statement; making green waste recycling as simple and easy as possible, and brings clarity to our product offering. Customers are often confused about our affiliation with the Gaston Companies. Our hope is that this rebrand creates more clarity and transparency for our customers.”

Gaston Mulch and Soil will continue to operate from its location in Northwest Gainesville and will provide mulch and topsoil for pick up and delivery throughout the state of Florida and Southeastern U.S.

About The Gaston Companies

Family owned and operated, Gaston’s Tree Service started business in North Central Florida in the summer of 1972. By the early 1980’s they were generating a substantial amount of tree debris on a daily basis and were forced to dispose of the debris (an approach that was inexpensive at the time). Following a state mandate in 1985 which stated that vegetation could no longer be dumped in landfills Gaston’s Tree Debris Recycling (GTDR) began operations, starting the process of permitting the first tree, yard, and land clearing debris recycling center in the state of Florida.

From humble beginnings, Gaston’s Tree Debris Recycling has since recycled millions of tons of vegetative debris around the country. The byproduct of this tree debris is turned into premium mulch, chips, or soil which is sold in bulk through Gaston Mulch & Soil, completing a full circle and returning the tree debris back into valuable landscape materials.
